Friday Night
On Friday Night there will be an “Un-Conference”. If you’ve never been apart of these before here’s how they work.
For this event, the “un-conference” part will begin on Friday evening at 9pm after the first general session. At the end of the general session, all the un-conference conversations will be announced along with locations.
If you have an idea for an “un-conference” topic, feel free to discuss it below. Or, if you’ve got an idea for a topic email Brian with the topic and a few lines describing it. This is only for planning purposes (room assignments) as the planning team will not be screening un-conference topics.
Current Un-Conference Topics:
- Youth Ministry Conversation (Hosted by Brian Wallace) - Many of the key voices in the emerging church conversation had their start in Youth Ministry so it is no surprise that much of the conversation is very relevant to youth ministry in the 21st century. This late night session will be a chance for youth workers to share their hopes and dreams for Youth Ministry in the 21st century.
- Songs of Protest, Songs of Faith (Hosted by Neal Locke) — A look at hymns, folk music, and protest songs as an “emergent music.” If you have a guitar, harmonica, drum, or other “folk” instrument, bring it. Otherwise, just bring your voice. Skill or talent is nice, but not required (it’s folk music, after all). Well talk and sing about this new (but very old) way for God’s people to cry out for justice.
- Presbymergent Poetry Party (Hosted by Chris Brown) This is a chance for Presbymergents with proclivities for producing poetry and prose to share our work and ponder the use of creative literary arts in worship. Bring something for a casual open-mic reading, or just come and chat about how we can more creatively use our words to convey the Word.
